Io Interactive has revealed more about 007 First lightincluding “clear differences” between Bond’s game and its Hitman series.
In statements to Techradar Gaming at Gamescom 2025, the art director of the Rasmus Poulen franchise discussed First lightThe original story of the age of majority and how the game differentiates Hitman Games for which the study is well known.
“We saw online some of the notions that were rummaging when it was announced that we were going to develop a game 007. So it wasn’t, you know, a mystery to people,” Poulen said. “And in that case, it was not really a mystery to us, because, of course, we have inspired transplant over the years for our previous games. And in that sense, it was a clear succession of our skill set and our ambition, in reality, in terms of how it is different.”
Compared to HitmanThe developer explained, First light It is a film experience with an approach to the character and history, and although stealthy action is an outstanding feature of the Bond game, our playable character and the way in which players get involved with the world will be very different.
“Entering the shoes of this young bond in this original story of the age of majority that we have created specifically for you, the players, it is clear that there are also some different differences, namely that you are a good different type this time this time then versus a, say, that we speak slightly, perhaps the bad evil in Hitman,” said Poulen. “And so, of course, in that sense, there is a big difference in the established rules with which you get involved with the world.”
As for why this story will have a young bond, he explained that it was “a massive opportunity” for Ioi playing with the idea of what is really a modern James Bond game for the first time since 2012.
“Of course, when you ask what it really is, what is the DNA, the next question that arises is, well, how did it get here?” The developer continued. “And in that sense, for us, it is a wonderful opportunity to marry the audience trip with the IP as well as getting the trip of Young Bond in the widest world of espionage. Therefore, it allows us to really align the audience of the games with the character of Bond.”
