Karachi:
Judicial magistrate South Kulsoom Sehato heard the case of the Lyari building collapse and sent 10 defendants, including the senior officials of the Control Authority of the Building of Sindh (SBCA) in judicial prison to the jail. The police had produced the suspects before the magistrate after the end of their physical prison.
The suspects include Syed Irfan Haider Naqvi, Ashfaq Hussain, Mohammad Jalees Siddiqui, Syed Faheem Murtaza, ali Ali Khan, Faheem Ahmed, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Raheem Hussain Shah, Taj Mohammad and General Director of Sbca de Sbca.
According to the investigating officer (IO), the official records of the collapsed building could not recover, and it was required that the custody of the accused obtained the documents. However, the court dismissed this request, ruling that investigation could continue without extending its physical return.
Defensor lawyer Zeeshan Rajpar argued that there was no prior complaint about the dangerous condition of the building. Another defense lawyer, Javed Chhattari declared that the responsibility of providing construction records falls to the section officer, who has become the plaintiff in this case instead of any affected person.
