Karachi:
A huge Pakistani flag of 10,000 square feet, specially prepared in Karachi for Yom-E-Takbeer, has been sent to Lahore, where it will be elevated on the Wagah border in front of the Indian Tricolor in a 110-foot high post. The flag exceeds the size of the previous national flag flown in the same place by 400 square feet.
The preparation of this monumental flag was part of the celebrations that marked the historical victory of Operation Bonyan Al-Marsous and the national pride associated with May 28, Yom-E-Takbeer.
The intricate production process covered two weeks in a factory in the Karachi area in Korangi, where around 25 qualified workers worked day and night in seams and assembly.
After the initial processing in the factory, several materials were transferred to Hill Park (near Tariq Road), where they were drawn, cut the Crescent and the star, cut and sewed on the mass green canvas.
Park visitors were attracted to the unusual view and were seen taking selfies with the huge flag and interacting with the flag manufacturing team to learn more about the process.
Speaking to Express News, Sheikh Nisar Parachamwala of VIP Flag Company said: “With this flag, we are breaking our own record. The previous national flag on Wagah measured 9,600 square feet; this is around 10,000 square feet.” He added that the most critical and technical phase in the process was to cut the crescent and the star, a task that requires extreme precision and crafts to guarantee perfect curves and angles.
