113K cut energy connections due to flood

The Fullan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has suspended the supply of electricity to more than 113,000 consumers in 13 South Punjab districts as a precautionary measure after an increase in flood water levels.

According to the officials, the electricity supply of 151 feeders has been disconnected at the transformative level under the Operating Procedures (SOP) Security to avoid accidents and life of safeguard.

In the Sahiwal district, the energy supply to 15,610 consumers in nine feeders was cut due to floods. The supply to 7,685 consumers has been restored after the flood water backed away.

Other affected districts include Khanewal with 20,933 consumers in 14 feeders, Bahawalnagar with 6,992 consumers in 20 feeders, Rajanpur with 124 consumers in two feeders, Dera Ghazi Khan with two consumers in a feeder, muzaffargarh with 10,114 consumers in 20 feeders and kot Adu with 275 consumers in a food of a food of a food.

MEPCO has established flood relief camps in all districts, headed by SDOS and Xens, with line personnel working 24 hours.
