At least 12 people were killed and dozens suffered wounds when a new period of monsoon rain caused sudden floods and landslides in northern Pakistan on Sunday, which raised the number of deaths to more than 460 in less than two weeks.
New casualties from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were reported, which remained the hardest during the ongoing monsoon spell.
The heavy storms and torrential rains wreaked havoc in Dera Ismail Khan, leaving nine people dead, including women and children, and hurting more than 50.
Three children were also killed when the roof of his house collapsed in the remote district of Dir, which is near the Afghanistan border, rescue officials said.
Property damage was reported on a large scale, while the energy supply system collapsed.
Strong winds that reach 100 km/h, accompanied by downpours, whipped Di Khan during the night. Eighteen remain under treatment, while 26 were discharged after receiving first aid. Fortunately, no victims of Tehsils Kulachi, unemployed, Daraan and Darazinda were reported.

In Abad Mata, within the limits of the Kirri Khaisore police station, a woman named Sajal Bibi died after her roof of the house ceded, leaving her daughter Sonia, 14 years old and her daughter Uroj, 11, wounded.
In other areas, the walls and ceilings collapsed, hurting several residents.
A Jamiat-Ul-Madine mosque wall in Muryali also fell, although no victims were produced. In Dinpur, Arsalan Baloch’s house collapsed completely.
After the storm, an emergency was declared in the hospitals and the injured received medical help. Di Khan Commissioner, Zafar-Ul-Islam Khattak, called for citizens to avoid unnecessary trips during the stormy climate and take precautions to avoid a greater loss of lives.
The Provincial Authority of Disaster Management (PDMA) also issued an urban flooding alert and flood floods for several KP districts after recent rains.
According to the alert, the upper districts – Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad – as well as simple areas – Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan – could be affected.
He warned that the low areas in Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan remained at risk of urban floods, while heavy rains and wind storms could also cause rays. He asked the district administrations, the Police, the 1122 rescue and all the relevant institutions to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
According to the latest PDMA report, rains and sudden floods have left 406 people dead and 247 wounds in the KP. Among the dead there are 305 men, 55 women and 46 children; While the injured include 179 men, 38 women and 30 children.
Floods have damaged 3,526 houses in total: 2,945 partially and 577 completely destroyed. Buner remains the most affected district with 337 reported deaths, while Swabi has reported 46 deaths so far.
