RAWALPINDI:
Security forces killed 13 terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a series of five high-tempo intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release on Sunday.
According to the ISPR, security forces carried out IBOs against Fitna al-Khwarij (the term used for the TTP) as part of a relentless counter-terrorism campaign. The IBOs arrived in the midst of Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, which is being carried out against the Afghan Taliban.
During an IBO in Bajaur district, the ISPR said, security forces did indeed attack a “Khwarij place and after an intense exchange of fire, five Khwarij were sent to hell.” In two other encounters in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan districts, three Khwarij were neutralized, he added.
“In two separate encounters in Khyber and South Waziristan districts, our own troops effectively neutralized five more Khwarij. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the Indian-sponsored Khwarij, who were still actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” he said.
After the operations, the ISPR said disinfection operations were being carried out “to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored Kharji found” in the area. “Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defending the nation’s borders.”
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their successful operations against Fitna al-Khwarij in the KP. They said security forces were achieving great success against terrorists under a well-organized plan.
In a statement, the president praised the professionalism of the security forces for successfully carrying out the operations. He stressed that these actions against Fitna al-Khwarij were crucial to maintaining peace throughout the country.
In a separate statement, Chief Minister Shehbaz also praised the security forces for successfully carrying out the IBOs. He said the forces were achieving great successes against terrorists under a well-organized strategy.
The Prime Minister asserted that the entire nation strongly supports Pakistan’s armed forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism. “We will not rest until terrorism is completely eradicated from the country,” he said.
