A 14 -year -old girl who holds American citizenship, who, according to reports, was kidnapped from the Lahore Skydies area, was safely recovered from the Jhang district, police confirmed Wednesday.
The teenager, identified as Fatima Zahra, was allegedly attracted and taken by a suspect named Hassan, who since then has been arrested and faces kidnapping charges, according to Express News.
The case caught the immediate attention of Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, caused a rapid action of the police. Research from the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Zeeshan Raza assigned a specialized team to the case, which led to the girl’s successful recovery and her safe return to her parents.
The kidnapping was initially reported by the girl’s mother at the Latch Police Station. The authorities said the suspect manipulated the child and transported it to another city.
Using surveillance and monitoring methods, the police tracked the movements of the suspect and located both the suspect and the victim in Jhang.
Dig Raza emphasized that a solid prosecution archive is being prepared to ensure that the suspect is responsible. “Protecting lives and property of citizens is our top priority,” he said.
