200 children among the victims of Islamabad’s rape


Islamabad:

The Interior Ministry revealed on Tuesday that of 567 cases of sexual abuse registered in Islamabad between January 2021 and June 2025, 200 children involved.

Responding in writing to Senator Shahadat Awan, the Ministry explained that among victims, 93 were boys and 108 girls.

A total of 222 accused were arrested in relation to these cases. However, only 12 have been convicted so far, while 163 remain in court, 15 have been acquitted and 26 are still released.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the Chamber that “according to the reports obtained from all the Islamabad police stations to (the) Zonal Police Superintendent, during the period from January 1, 2021 to June 20, 2025, (a) 567 cases of rape and 625 defendants were registered.”

He added that of 567 cases, 485 cases were challenged, 80 accused were convicted, 23 defendants were acquitted and accused in 406 cases still face a trial in the competent courts.
