Security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 25 militants, including suicide bombers. The exchange of fire took place opposite Ghaki general areas in Kurram and Spinwam district in North Waziristan, the army’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces detected movements of two large Khwarij groups attempting to infiltrate into Pakistan from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border opposite the general areas of Ghaki in Kurram District and Spinwam in North Waziristan District on the night of October 24-25, 2025.

“Our troops effectively engaged these Khwarij groups and as a result of precise and skillful engagements, 15 Khwarij, including four suicide bombers belonging to Indian representative Fitna al-Khwarij, were sent to hell in Spinwam, North Waziristan district,” the ISPR said.

In Ghaki, Kurram district, security forces clashed with another group of infiltrated militants, leading to multiple casualties and the recovery of weapons and explosives.

“Another 10 Khwarij infiltrators were killed in Ghaki, Kurram district, while a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the slain terrorists,” the ISPR said.

However, during the exchange of fire, the military said five soldiers were martyred while fighting bravely in the line of duty.

“Five brave sons of the soil: Havaldar Manzoor Hussain, 35 years (resident of Ghizar district), Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani, 23 years (resident of Poonch district), Sepoy Muhammad Adil, 24 years (resident of Kasur district), Sepoy Shah Jehan, 25 years (resident of Vehari district) and Sepoy Ali Asghar, 25 years (resident of Pak district). Pattan) – fought bravely, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced the Shahadah,” the ISPR said.

The military media wing noted that the timing of the infiltration attempts coincided with the ongoing diplomatic engagements between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Türkiye.

“It is important to note that these infiltration attempts by Fitna al-Khwarij are taking place at a time when delegations from Pakistan and Afghanistan are holding talks in Türkiye,” ISPR stated, “which casts serious doubts on the intentions of the Afghan Interim Government regarding its commitment to tackling terrorism emanating from its soil.”

The statement added that Pakistan has consistently urged the Afghan Interim Government to ensure effective border management and fulfill its obligations under the Doha Agreement by preventing the use of Afghan territory by Khwarij elements against Pakistan.

A disinfection operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the area. ISPR reaffirmed that the relentless anti-terrorism campaign under ‘Azm-e-Istihkam’, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate the menace of foreign sponsored terrorism from the country.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their successful operation to foil the infiltration attempt in North Waziristan and Kurram.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the president expressed his deep admiration for the courage and dedication of the armed forces in the defense of the homeland and paid enthusiastic tribute to the five martyrs who gave their lives in the line of duty.

“The antics of the Kharijite elements and their Indian sponsors will never succeed in their nefarious designs,” President Zardari said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.
