Islamabad:
The president of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) informed the National Committee of the Assembly on Education and Qualified Training that 30 schemes of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) are established for its completion this year.
During the NA panel meeting, the president of HER said that 10 of these projects belong to laptop and scholarship schemes. While some have been approved, they remain pending due to the lack of funds.
Speaking at the meeting, the rector of the University of Nutech said his institution has sent 80 students to Japan. He said that around 300 government buildings are vacant in Baluchistan and that Nutech has reused one of those buildings to establish a new campus.
“We should focus on expanding existing university campuses instead of establishing new universities,” he said.
The committee also discussed the issue of shelter construction at the Quaid-E-Azam University without CDA approval. A planning and development official said that the CDA member is part of the University Committee, and will add a formal CDA approval.
