The Senate Permanent Committee on Pakistani abroad and human resources development on Wednesday instructed interested authorities to accelerate negotiations and finish the prison transfer agreements with other countries.
Chaired by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, the Committee met at the Old Pip Hall, Parliament Lodges. The committee discussed issues related to the consular services provided to the Pakistani imprisoned in several countries, particularly in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Oman, with a specific approach to joint policies and initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and community well -being .
Regarding the prisoners in Saudi Arabia, the Committee was informed that 900 people had been interviewed, and the 400 national state had been verified through the Ministry of Interior for the transfer.
In addition, Senator Faisal Vawda promised to help orphans, widows and elderly prisoners, proposing to advocate for the pardons when appropriate. President Zeeshan Khanzada supported this initiative and extended his full support.
The Committee was informed by the Director General of Mofa on the completion of the agreements with the EAU, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, China, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Iran and South Korea and was informed that the transfer of active prisoners was currently underway.
Emphasizing the need for adequate legal representation and impartial translators for the detainees, Senator Zeeshan Khanzada directed the community welfare attackers to guarantee these provisions. In addition, he instructed the authorities concerned to accelerate the negotiations and finalize the prison transfer agreements to facilitate the repatriation of the Pakistani citizens, which allows them to fulfill their sentences in their country of origin.

The committee also reported that approximately 5,000 Pakistani were currently arrested throughout the West, with the majority convicted of drug -related crimes.
Although it recognizes the efforts of community welfare fixations, the Committee recommended that the Secretary of the Ministry of Pakistani abroad and the development of human resources (m/o op & hrd) assume the issue of the acquisition of biometric machines for CWA parked in several missions. These machines would facilitate the detainees to renew their passports and CNIC, allowing them to present appeals when appropriate.
In response to a consultation by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, the Committee was informed about the clemency process, noting that in Oman, the forgives for long -date prisoners are granted only on national vacations. The Committee also requested a detailed report on the funds assigned and used in the last two years for the payment of fines on behalf of the Pakistani detained in several missions.
The meeting concluded with a discussion about the confiscation of passports to the arrival of Zaireen Pakistani that was traveling to Iraq, which has caused significant difficulties and humiliations at the hands of the Iraqi immigration authorities. In this situation, Senator Zeeshan Khanzada declared that he would approach the president of the Senate to nominate Senator Raja Nasir Abbas as the focal person for this issue.
