4,000 USC personnel to be fired through vss

Islamabad:

The Federal Government has decided to terminate almost 4,000 permanent employees of the Public Services Stores Corporation (USC) through a voluntary separation scheme (VSS) before continuing with the privatization of the corporation.

Regular employees will be transferred to the federal government surplus group before the privatization process.

According to the sources, the Board of Directors of the USC, chaired by the federal secretary of Industries Saif Anjum, approved the formation of a committee of four members to finish the VSS package during a meeting. The officials of the Privatization Commission and the Ministry of Finance also attended.

During the meeting, it was stated that the USC will close before July 30, 2025.

Previously, at a meeting chaired by the managing director of the USC Faisal Nisar on June 30, 2025, key decisions were made regarding the closure of the USC operations, and instructions were issued to suspend all public service store operations throughout the country from July 1, 2025.

All zonal managers were aimed at the nearby accounts of public service stores and warehouses and send conciliation reports within one day.

This decision triggered a strong reaction from employees and their representative bodies. After the protests, the USC management met with the corporation officials and announced that the closing letter had been withdrawn, describing it as a misunderstanding.

However, a few days later, the Board met again and reaffirmed the closing plan. It was decided that all suppliers and suppliers would be notified to recover their stores of stores and warehouses before July 10.

In addition, rented public service stores will be defected from August 1, 2025, and notices will be issued accordingly. August is also expected a two -year audit report, while a detailed report on USC assets and their valuations are preparing to facilitate the privatization process.
