- Magnetar announces two new 4K Blu-ray players

In Cedia Expo 2025, Magnetar revealed that he is bringing two new 4K Blu-ray players to the market, the UDP900mkii and UDP800mkii.
Known as the MKII series, the new players are successors the Magnetar UDP900 and UDP800, the last of which is our current option as the best option for audiophiles in the Techradar Guide to the best 4K Blu-ray players.
The UDP900mkii and UDP800mkii arrive with a stacked list of characteristics: reproduction of SACD, Vision Dolby and HDR10+ High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Dolby Atmos and DTS: X audio format support.
Magnetar players stand out for their improved audio performance, and the MKII series is no different. The UDP900MKII presents Dual Ess 9038 pro Dacs and an HDMI dedicated audio port. It also has USB XMOS reproduction and admits up to 768 KHz PCM and 512 High Resolution DSD.
The UDP800MKII has seven OPA1602 OP-SAMPS for a reduced noise and HDMI fluctuation, and improved EMI. A redesigned chassis also means a more stable performance, including quieter record readings, according to the company
Both players come with USB 3.0 ports redesigned for improved performance with connected devices, and both are ready for the time.
It is expected that the UDP900mkii and UDP800MKII will reach the United States at the end of 2025, with a price respectively at $ 3,299.99 (approximately £ 2.440 / au $ 5,050) and $ 1,799.99 (approximately £ 1.330 / au $ 2,750). Information about the availability in other regions was not provided in the company’s press release.
Good news for 4k Blu-ray
Here is something that I did not have on my 2025 bingo card: not one more than two Brands that launch new 4K Blu-ray players. Sony started things earlier this year, launching a ‘new’ version of its UBP-X700 4K Blu-ray player, called UBP-X700K. However, the only real difference between the two players on paper is that the network support has been eliminated in the new model.
Magnetar has also heard the call, launching his own new players in the new MKII series. On the paper, the MKII series has gone through some serious hardware updates that should guarantee its domain as the best audiophile 4K Blu-ray Player option. But, most importantly, we have two new 4K Blu-ray players!
While the MKII series is at the premium end of the 4K Blu-ray Player market, it is still great news for 4K Blu-ray fans after a couple of difficult years, with LG announcing its game of the Blu-ray players market, followed more recently by Reavon, leaving Sony, Panasonic and magnetar as the only main elections (apart from the two uses of the two next two of the two. games).
