An earthquake hit parts of northern Pakistan early Friday, shaking houses in several cities and towns; However, there were no immediate reports of damages or victims of any of the beaten areas.

According to the seismic monitoring centers, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5 and originated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan at a depth of 114 kilometers.

They felt tremors in the districts of Peshawar and the nearby, including Swat, Malakand, Dirda, Mardan, Haripur and Abbottabad.

The National Seismic Monitoring Center (NSMC) of the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan in Islamabad said that the tremors were recorded at 2:03 am

The residents in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Azad Kashmir, Charsadda and Karak also reported that they felt the earthquake.

According to the reports, the shakes were noticed in several locations in the Federal Capital, and the authorities continue to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, the heavy rains whipped parts of Islamabad, and Murree saw showers accompanied by thunder and rays, which adds to the disturbance of the climate during the night in the region.

Tremors in Gujranwala and the surrounding areas were also reported, as well as in multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a spokesman for the Provincial Authority for Disaster Management (PDMA), the Emergency Operations Center is in contact with all District Administrations in KP.

The PDMA has advised citizens to call the 1700 aid line in case of emergency.
