An earthquake of 5.9 magnitude on Thursday shook Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said the seismic monitoring center of the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD).

According to the seismological center, the epicenter of the Quake was in the Hindu region of Kush of Afghanistan at a depth of 111 kilometers.

Tremors were reported in Peshawar, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Shabqadar, Charsadda and Parachinar, as well as Nowshera, Hagu and Kohat. Choques were also felt in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swat and Attock.

In Punjab, Jolts were experienced in Mianwali, Chakwal, Talagang, Kallar Kahar and adjacent areas, while Finech also reported tremors. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the strong clashes led residents to run outdoors.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, people in Neelum Valley and Dhirkot felt tremors.

No immediate reports from victims or damage have been received.

Several earthquakes have reached the region of Afghanistan-Pakistan, which is at the intersection of Indian and Eurastic tectonic plates.
