The World Developer Conference of Apple (WWDC) saw the company announce a wide variety of new features in iOS 26. But apart from the best characteristics of iOS 26 that stood out, there are many more that flew under the radar.
Here, we have chosen five of our new favorite additions from iOS that you may not have seen on WWDC. Each will bring new exciting abilities to their iPhone, so it is worth taking a look, and if you install the beta iOS 26, you can try them.
1. Battery increases
Taking care of your iPhone’s battery is of vital importance to ensure that as long as possible. The good news is that only some small adjustments here and there can make a big difference, and iOS 26 will help you do exactly that.
Apple software update comes with a lot of useful functions that are dedicated to preserving and extending the battery life. For example, there is a new adaptive food option in the battery configuration of its iPhone, whose purpose is to make small changes intelligently that can prevent their battery from draining too fast. That includes reducing the brightness of its screen and allowing some tasks “to take a little longer,” according to Apple. It will also enable the low power mode when its battery reaches 20%.
In other places, the battery section of the configuration application now comes with much deeper information, including the time of use that is based on its current load level, a more detailed breakdown of which applications are using a significant battery power and more. And when you are loading your phone, you will now see how much time you must wait until you reach 100%.
2. Message filtering
If you are tired of examining a flood of spam text messages, there are some good news in iOS 26: Apple is bringing messages to your phone. This can be found in the updated messages.
Now, messages from unknown senders are automatically filtered outside their entrance tray and are stored in a separate area. These text messages cannot reach their entrance tray until they approve of their senders.
You can allow messages sensitive to time, for example, track alerts for plots or food delivery updates. There are different categories for filtered messages, including personal messages of companies, transactions, promotions and more. Each group can alternate individually.
3. Sounds in the background
The background sounds have appeared on iPhones for a while, but the number and the type of sounds have been extended in iOS 26. There are now rain options on roofs, airplanes, crepitant fire, calm nights and more.
These can provide a relaxing environment to help you work, sleep or concentrate. You can enable them in the configuration application, or add them to your control center to facilitate access.
4. Dirty lens reminders
The more you use your iPhone, the greater the chances of accidentally staining your camera lenses, since they are such large protuberances on the back of your phone, they are quite difficult to avoid.

But greasy fingerprints can ruin their photos in subtle ways that may not even note until the time has long passed.
To avoid this scenario, iOS 26 can alert it when you think your lenses have been dirty, and let you know that it is time to give them a soft cleaning.
5. Improved flight characteristics
Whether it is a frequent steering wheel or someone who simply makes the occasion of the occasional airline, can benefit from the update of iOS boarding pass 26. This makes it much easier to prepare your passes and track flights in real time.

There is also a new live activity that shows relevant flight monitoring information, such as arrival terminal, luggage claim, flight progress, in addition to other useful details.
