500,000 more homes to obtain free solar panels this year: cm Murad

The Sindh Prime Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced plans to distribute 500,000 additional solar systems to the poor this year.

Speaking in Sukkur, he revealed that the government had initially decided to distribute 200,000 solar systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), with 50,000 already delivered and the remaining set to follow soon.

In addition, in the directive of the President of the Pouts Party of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto, 500,000 additional solar systems will be provided to low -income households at the end of this year, reinforcing efforts to expand renewable energy access among economically disadvantages .

In related news, the main minister highlighted an energy waste initiative in Karachi.

“Currently, the authorities are collecting 15,000 tons of waste in the city, with a plan to turn it into 50 megawatts of electricity,” he added.

This project aims to reduce urban waste while contributing to the renewable energy objectives of the province, added Murad.

Previously, the cm of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, launched a free solar panel scheme to provide permanent relief to people in electricity invoices.

According to Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, 100,000 houses will obtain free solar panels at a cost of RS10 billion under the scheme.
