60 rounded Afghans in twin cities

After the expiration of a deadline for his voluntary return to Afghanistan, the authorities of Pakistan became action on Thursday and arrested 60 illegal Afghan migrants from different areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad during a search operation.

According to the sources, the operation was carried out by the Police in collaboration with secret agencies on the basis of the notices.

In Islamabad, the operation was carried out in the areas of Tarnol, Barakahu, Town Ghauri and Mirabad, from where 22 Afghan nationals were rounded. Thirty -eight Afghan were arrested during the operation in the Rawalpindi Fauji neighborhood and its adjacent areas.

Later, all people were transferred to a temporary camp in the Haji camp area.

After their biometric and registration in the camp, these people will be transferred to the Landi Kotal area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from where they will be deported to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing.

Pakistan had established a deadline of March 31 for all illegal residents, including the head of the Afghan citizen card (ACC), to voluntarily return to their countries of origin.

However, with the last deadline, the Government has indicated the beginning of the forced removals and the legal measures against those still reside in the country without the appropriate documentation.

According to official data, a total of 886,242 national Afghan nationals left Pakistan as of April 1, with continuous repatriating.

The authorities warned about strict legal actions against those who did not leave before the deadline, reinforcing the government’s commitment to enforce immigration laws.

There are 43 fields for Afghan refugees in the KP. The number of Afghan nationals in Pakistan who has registration cards (POR) is 1,344,584. In the KP, the total number of registered Afghan refugees is 709,278, of which 344,908 reside in the camps.

The number of Afghan refugees who have ACC is 307,647. Since 2013, a total of 465,000 Afghan refugees have returned through the Torkham border.

In Baluchistan, there are 317,000 registered Afghan refugees; In Punjab, there are 196,000 refugees; in Sindh 74,117; Islamabad 42,718, and in Kashmir Azad there are 4,448 registered Afghan refugees.

The Afghan interim government under the Talibanes on Tuesday asked Islamabad not to begin the deportation of Afghan citizens.

“In particular, Pakistan has announced a renewed repression, stating that he will deport people without legal residence permits, even when valid card holders face uncertainty,” said a statement from the Afghan government on April 1, according to Bakhtar’s official news agency.

The mass deportation campaign, launched last year, is part of the broader strategy of Pakistan to regulate undocumented migration and address the growing security concerns.

On Wednesday, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and informed him about progress regarding the repatriation process of Afghan nationals.
