American First (Netflix)
Look
Neo-Western dramas have taken over the streaming world, such as yellow stone and its later spin-offs 1883 and 1923. Now, Netflix has caught on to the genre buzz with its new show. American Primitive.
Unlike Yellowstone, American primitive It has no contemporary twist and is rather a heartbreaking dramatization of the birth of the American West. Set in 1857, in the midst of the Utah War, it follows the violent clash between culture, community and politics as men and women fight for control of the land in a cruel new world. Leaving the trailer, american primitive is meant to be a brutal and bloody watch, so if you’re looking for a darker alternative to yellow stone, you may have found your match. However, we’ll have to wait and see if it becomes one of the best shows on Netflix. – Grace Morris, entertainment writer
The Traitors season 3 (Peacock)
Look
The British edition of the third season of this absorbing reality show began airing on BBC One just after the New Year. Now, American audiences can get their fill of game-based betrayals and betrayals with the American version of The traitorswhose third season finally arrived on Peacock.
Hosted once again by award-winning actor Alan Cummings, The traitors In season 3, a new group of contestants will compete for the series’ cash prize by trying to deceive their peers. After being divided into two groups (the Traitors and the Faithful), the contestants must work together to eliminate the other team and win their share of the monetary pool. I’ve enjoyed what the UK version has had to offer so far this season, so I hope its American counterpart delivers equally impactful moments. – T.P.
The pit (Max)
Look
Max’s new medical drama It caught my attention when I wrote about the pitts new and exciting trailer at the end of 2024. In it, emergencies Star Noah Wyle returns to hospital duties as he leads the cast of this 15-episode series. It also sounds promising, as it has been produced by The west wing‘s John Wells, and promises to show a “realistic examination” of what healthcare workers experience at a modern hospital in Pittsburgh.
With numerous medical dramas on offer, my favorite remains Home – this one has an interesting twist. The pit takes place in a single emergency room shift, with each episode reflecting an hour within the hospital walls. It is structurally identical to the series directed by Keifer Sutherland. 24, and I’m very excited about that. With such an intriguing premise, I hope we can add this to our roundup of the best Max shows. – Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Bank of Dave 2: The Pawnbroker (Netflix)
Look
As I mentioned in my Bank of Dave: the lender trailer reaction.piece, I loved the original netflix movie. After putting it on for a leisurely afternoon watch, I soon found myself sucked into Dave Fishwick’s story, set to a perfect soundtrack by Def Leppard (who also makes a cameo!). The first film followed businessman Dave as he created a community bank, which he created to offer as an alternative to the big mainstream banks to help local businesses in the city.
This time, you have a new enemy: payday lenders. As you can see in the trailer, Dave highlights the devastating effect they have had on his local community and beyond, and sets out to challenge them. He teams up with some unlikely allies and I can’t wait to see more of Dave’s story, played by the always brilliant Rory Kinnear, who we last saw in The rings of power season 2. I don’t expect Bank of Dave 2 to join our guide to the best Netflix movies, but it’s sure to leave a lasting impression on me. – pound
Goosebumps: The Disappearance (Disney Plus/Hulu)
If you loved the latest one goosebumps Adaptation on Disney Plus and Hulu, you won’t want to miss this follow-up. I loved what Disney did with its first TV adaptation of RL Stine’s beloved teen horror novels, offering something new while also introducing existing monsters and elements that make it so unique. goosebumps. There’s a huge new name attached to The disappearancealso with Friends Star David Schwimmer joins the goosebumps Cast as Anthony, a recently divorced father whose children don’t want to spend much time with him.
But there is a good reason for that. Anthony’s son, Devin, along with his sister Cece and their group of friends, begins to investigate a series of disappearances that took place in the ’90s, which end up taking a very dark turn. Considering how impressed I was with the first season, I’m really excited for this one. Hopefully, it’ll be another worthy entry to our best Disney Plus shows and recaps of the best Hulu shows. – pound
On guard (main video)
Look
Prime Video’s latest TV original On call is an adrenaline junkie’s dream and puts an exciting spin on the crime drama genre. Indeed, On call It’s not just about investigating detectives and murder mysteries that you see in a typical police procedural; Instead, it is a visceral view from the side of police patrols using wearable cameras, body cameras, and dash cam footage to create a cinema verité effect.
On call It follows veteran police officer Traci Harmon (Troian Bellisario) and her training partner Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) as they respond to emergencies in Long Beach, California. With an interesting twist on the action-packed side of law enforcement, On call It certainly sounds like an intriguing watch on Amazon’s streaming platform and has the potential to be one of Prime Video’s best shows. of the year so far. – GM

The documentary also explores the show’s origins and its meteoric rise with exclusive testimonials from experts, producers and former guests of the show who reveal its dark and destructive secrets.
With an 86% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action It looks like it will be included in our best Netflix documentaries guide.
