The Pitt season 2 (HBO Max)
Look
In my review of The pit season 2, it’s no secret that it’s my most anticipated TV show of 2026. In it, we pick up 10 months after last season and the daytime slot returns for the 4th of July weekend.
Lead Doctor Michael ‘Robby’ Robinavitch is more grounded than his emotional breakdown in Season 1, and plans to leave for a three-month sabbatical after his holiday shift ends. His replacement, Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), entered the ER with an agenda, hoping to implement permanent changes to the way Robby runs his department.
As you can imagine, it’s glorious chaos from the moment the ER doors open, and the stakes only grow in the second season of the award-winning HBO Max. Combining its winning formula with new dynamic elements, The pitIt’s as strong as it was before. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter
People We Meet on Vacation (Netflix)
Look
It may not be groundbreaking filmmaking, but I was incredibly impressed People we meet on vacation. Adapting Emily Henry’s bestselling romance novel of the same name, one of Netflix’s new January movies is the perfect reminder that the first month of the year doesn’t have to be cold and boring.
The romantic chemistry between our two leads is amazing, and who needs bold filmmaking when you can be cozy instead? Personally, I love that we start a new year with the energy that platonic love is just as important (if not more) than romantic love.
People we meet on vacation He eventually injects romance into the romantic comedy, but for the most part, we follow two people who learn to love each other for exactly who they are, and that’s not limited to romance. – joint venture
The Night Manager season 2 (Prime Video)
Look
Jonathan Pine has returned after a nine-year hiatus and is hiding under a new alias. But Tom Hiddleston’s beloved character isn’t having a moment of relaxation as he finds himself swept up into an exciting new mission. This is one of my most anticipated Prime Video shows of the year (it’s already started streaming on BBC One in the UK) and I’m delighted to see it return after such a long absence.
This time, Pine finds himself feuding with menacing Colombian businessman Teddy dos Santos as demons from Pine’s past resurface. Season 2 welcomes back many familiar faces including Olivia Colman, Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge and Michael Nardone. And, with the first three episodes of this BBC-developed Amazon TV show launching on Sunday, your weekend is already sorted. – Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
One Thousand Blows season 2 (Hulu/Disney+)
Look
Are you tempted to go back in time to see a famous all-female gang plan a daring robbery, street fights break out and royalty train in boxing in Victorian London? Steven Knight’s returning period drama is the perfect watch for you.
a thousand blows Season 2 begins immediately after the events of its predecessor, with Sugar Goodson battered, Hezekiah Moscow in a heap of despair, and Mary Carr determined to rally the Forty Elephants to take back the streets.
All six episodes are now available on Hulu or Disney+ if you don’t live in the US, so you don’t have to wait to see where the next episode goes. Just be prepared: there may be less boxing this season, but it still packs a brutal punch. – Amelia Schwanke, Senior Entertainment Editor
For him and for her (Netflix)
Look
Netflix’s latest police thriller For him and her It may have divided critics overall, but everyone is in complete agreement about its wild ending which I’m sure will be the talk of the town this weekend.
Marvel stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal play a reporter and a detective trying to solve a murder in which each believes the other is the prime suspect. Whether your suspicions are correct or not is another question entirely.
The six-episode series is ideal for binge-watching, as all episodes are now available on Netflix, and given the talk of its big twist, you’ll want to stream the whole thing as soon as possible so no one spoils it for you. – pound
Tron: Ares (Disney+)
Look
One of the many films that failed at the global box office in 2025, Tron: Ares makes its debut on Disney+ less than three months after its initial theatrical release.
Set 15 years later Tron: LegacyThe latest entry in the sci-fi franchise stars Jared Leto as Ares, an artificial intelligence program created by Dillinger Systems and labeled the “perfect, expendable soldier.” However, when Ares crosses over into the real world, the lines between reality and the digital world begin to blur.
I really enjoyed Tron: Legacy but, either because of the mixed reception Tron: Ares has received and/or Leto’s participation, I can’t say I’ll be racing on my Bike of Light to see this. Although maybe you do. – T.P.
The Golden Globes 2026 (Paramount+)
Look
Prepare your party dresses and tuxedos, because this weekend the next big awards ceremony of the season arrives. The 83rd edition of the Golden Globes will take place this Sunday and, like last year’s event, will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ in the US.
That said, you’ll need to be registered to the latter’s Premium tier to watch it live.) Those of you who have an Essential subscription will only be able to watch it on demand. With Nikki Glaser set to return as host for the second year in a row, hopefully it will be another night filled with laughter and well-deserved victors. – AS
