Pm gives the salary of one month of the cabinet for the relief of the flood of kp


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the Federal Cabinet will donate the salary of one month to support the communities affected by floods in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

He made the announcement while presiding to a meeting in Islamabad on Monday to review the aid efforts in progress in areas affected by the floods of KP, Gilgit-Baltist (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The prime minister promised total federal support for the affected communities. “Helping our anguished Pakistani brothers and sisters is our national responsibility,” he said.

According to the help package of the Prime Minister, financial assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased already affected by the floods. The engineer of the Minister of Affairs of Kashmir and GB, Amir Muqam, has been commissioned to supervise the relief and rehabilitation operations.

Sharif ordered federal ministers to personally monitor electricity restoration, water supply, roads and other essential services. “All relevant ministers must remain in the affected areas until the last person receives assistance while the basic infrastructure is restored,” he said.

He instructed the National Road Authority, the Ministry of Communications and the Organization of Frontier works to prioritize the repair and maintenance of roads and bridges in the areas affected by the floods.

The Prime Minister also ordered the Ministry of Health to send medical equipment and establish camps, while Benazir’s income support program will mobilize to help the victims of floods.

An informative session during the meeting indicated that federal and provincial governments, the Pakistan army and other institutions have established 456 relief fields and have carried out 400 rescue operations so far. Help trucks are being sent that transport essential products, with priority for the most affected areas.

According to preliminary estimates, damage to public and private property have exceeded RS126 million. The National Disaster Authority presented a report on rations, campaign stores, medicines and other essential supplies. The prime minister directed the amount of aid articles.
