- Microsoft is experimenting with a new recommendation in the start menu
- It is effectively an ad for co -pilot (and Microsoft 365 Co -cilot)
- Recommendations include indications to write a draft, create an image or simply activate a query
Windows 11 could be obtaining another finely veiled announcement in the start menu, and this time is for co -pilot.
The latest Windows reports that Phantomofearth highlighted the movement in X, but keep in mind that Microsoft is only experiencing with this idea currently in the compilations of Test of Windows 11, so you will not see it yet.
As expected, the search for Microsoft to add co -pilot buttons to Windows 11 has reached the start menu. SMS is experiencing a new start -up menu recommendation for co -pilot/m365 Co -cilot that suggests some different indications that you can use with it, here are 4: pic.twitter.com/tzhhhhr0xlolAugust 16, 2025
The NUDGE TO USING COPILOT appears in the ‘Recommended’ section of the start menu, which is where Microsoft indicates applications and services that you think you can find useful (read: try to sell it), as well as recently used applications or files.
As you will see if you look at the four screenshots provided in X, there are recommendations for using simple co -pilot or Microsoft 365. The latter is the subscription version addressed to companies, and I suppose the first is what will be presented to the average consumer.
These consist of indications to simply activate co -pilot to answer a query or use the AI to write a first draft.
However, Windows Last made some references and found references to other turns in these recommendations in Windows 11. That includes obtaining a co -pilot to create an image or a suggestion to “teach me some ways in which the co -pilot can help me with my productivity”, which opens Microsoft 365.
ANALYSIS: Do you start bothering?
Non -surprising things that have happened this week, number 28: Microsoft is considering the idea of Pushing the functionality of AI a little more in Windows 11. Of course, we must take into account that this is only experimentation at this time: the leaks in X is not clear if this is hidden in Windows 11 Preview is built, but I suppose that this is the case (the findings made by Windows the latest).
I bet that at least some effective is that this is something that the cut for its inclusion in Windows 11 eventually. Although we really do not need more requests to use co -pilot, there is already a large button for AI in the taskbar, after all.
Now, to be fair to Microsoft, the good news is that if you do not like recommendations in the start menu like this, the company recently introduced the ability to turn them off in Windows 11 (after that option was seen in the tests a while ago).
To do this, you must go into configuration and go to Personalization> HomeWhere you will see a sliding control for the following: “Show the recommended files in start, recent files in the file explorer and elements in jump lists.” Simply turn off this, but keep in mind that you will lose the other mentioned bits, including recent files that are marked in the file explorer (which is the application that shows the folders in your desktop).
