Karachi residents prepared for another torrential rain spell on Thursday with closed schools and public hospitals operating with minimum personnel. Most of the offices remained closed, except for the essential services, and the provincial government urged citizens to avoid traveling and staying at home. The power cuts continued in several areas of the city.
More than 10 people have died in rain -related incidents. Most were electrocution deaths, while at least one person fell into an open apple.
A case has been registered at the Shah Faisal Colonia Police Station against the CEO of K-Electric, Ke IBC Shah Faisal and other officers of the public services company on the deaths of electrocution of two brothers.
The FIR, presented on behalf, the father of the deceased, Sultan, affirms that the younger brother, Siraj, was electrocuted by a high voltage underground cable, when he went out to buy shopkeepers. The older brother, Murad, tried to save Siraj and was electrocuted in the process.
The passersby managed to get the brothers out of the submerged road, but Siraj had died on the spot. Murad was transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), where he succumbed to his wounds.
Sultan has sought complete legal actions against the negligence of KE in the signed registered under sections 322 [pertaining to murder without intention to cause harm] and 268 [causing public nuisance].
Blackout
Despite the rain gaps, the power cuts throughout the city persist. Residents in different areas of the city, including block A of Northern Nazimabad A, Block 9 of Gulistan-E-Jauhar and Safora Goth 33, have been without electricity for more than 36 hours with closed energy of the first rain spell on Monday afternoon.
In other locations, including several phases of the Defense and Stadium Road Housing Authority, complained about the continuous interruption of power until Tuesday night.
In Saudabad, Ghazi Goth, Khuda Ki Basti, Ibrahim Hyderi and Shanti Nagar Stadium Road, the power had not been restored for 28 hours, while in the federal area of Area B 14, Nank Wara, Yousuf Goth, Ramswami, Keamari and Azam Basti, the residents did not have electricity for more than 22 hours.
Rain in the cards
It is expected that the next round of scattered showers arrives this afternoon, that the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) warned that it could be heavier than yesterday. This rainy series is expected to last until Friday.

The skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy on Fridays and Saturdays, and partially clouded conditions are forecast for Sunday and Monday. Mild climatic conditions are expected to prevail over the next few days under the effects of the monsoon system.
According to PMD, a low pressure system is still very active, with thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains expected in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, from the afternoon to night and night.
Temperatures are likely to range between 28 ° C at minimum and 31 ° C to the maximum, with a high humidity that causes significant discomfort.
