Dalori bar:
The rescuers and residents resumed on Tuesday survivors while the number five days of torrential rain increased more than 350, and the authorities warn the monsoon of the Monzón would continue until the weekend.
The torrential rains throughout the north of Pakistan have caused floods and landslides that have swept entire villages, leaving many residents trapped in the debris and missing scores.
The National Authority for Disaster Management (NDMA) said that 356 people were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a mountainous province in the northwest of Pakistan that borders Afghanistan, since Thursday night.
More dozen were killed in the surrounding regions, making the toll in the last five days to almost 400.
Rescuers dug through mud and stone in Dalori’s village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hoping to find survivors and the bodies of people who disappear.
The villagers stayed observing and praying while rescuers worked, one day after the search stopped for a more intense rain.
Umar Islam, a 31 -year -old worker, fought to stop his tears while talking about his father, who was killed on Monday.
“Our misery is beyond the explanation,” Islam said AFP While the neighbors tried to comfort him.
“In a matter of minutes, we lost everything we had,” he said.
“Our lives are ruined.”
Fazal Akbar, 37, another villager, described the sequelae of floods as “terrifying.”
“It happened so suddenly that no one had a minute to react. Mosque ads were made, and the villagers rushed to start the rescue themselves,” Akbar said.
“In less than 20 minutes, our town was reduced to ruins.”
Many roads have been damaged, which makes rescuers difficult to reach areas damaged by floods.
Communication is also difficult, with telephone networks beaten in areas affected by flooding.
Heavy rains also began to fall on Tuesday in the southern parts of Pakistan that until now had saved the worst of the monzón’s downpours.
Amir Hyder Laghari, chief meteorologist of the province of southern Sindh, said he feared urban floods in large cities such as the Karachi financial capital “due to the weak infrastructure.”
While the pipes and Karachi’s sewerage system struggled to cope with the downpours, the drivers of the peak hour were trapped in rising waters and multiple neighborhoods were beaten with energy cuts.
It has also been raining in 15 districts in the neighboring province of Baluchistan, and the main road that connects it with Sindh has been blocked for heavy vehicles, said provincial disaster official Muhammad Youunis.
Between 40 and 50 houses they had been damaged in two districts, he said.
The rain was expected to continue until Saturday, and “another spell is to start at the end of the month,” said the president of the NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik.
More than 700 people have been killed in the Monzón’s rains since June 26, said the NDMA, with about 1,000 injured. The monsoon is expected to last until mid -September.
Earth landslides and sudden floods are common during the Monzón season, which usually begins in June and lasts until the end of September.
Pakistan is among the most vulnerable countries in the world with the effects of climate change and faces extreme climatic events.
The floods of the Monzón submerged a third of Pakistan in 2022, resulting in approximately 1,700 deaths.
