Despite a peace agreement signed today to address tensions in the region, protests have caused major traffic blockages in several parts of the city.

According to the traffic police, 13 places in Karachi are currently affected by the protests, and major roads including Numaish Chowrangi, Abu al-Hasan Isfahani Road near Abbas Town, Five Star Chowrangi in North Nazimabad and the Mall Samama on University Road, are closed. to traffic.

Other affected areas include Shahrah-e-Faisal near Kala Chapra, Malir 15 bridge, Surgani Town Road, Shahrah Pakistan in Ancholi and Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Johar, Express News reported.

Earlier in the day a grand Kurram jirga (tribal assembly) was convened at Kohat. The assembly resulted in the signing of a peace agreement between the warring factions in Kurram, marking a crucial step towards restoring stability in the region. Both factions agreed to hand over their heavy weapons to the government as part of the terms of the peace agreement.

Kohat Commissioner is expected to make the official announcement and final confirmation of the agreement today.

The decision had previously been delayed due to incomplete participation by jirga members, but both sides have now agreed on several key points of the deal, paving the way for peace in Kurram.

The protests in Karachi were called by MWM as a show of solidarity with the people of Parachinar, who have been facing conflict and instability in the region.

Authorities are working to manage traffic disruptions and are advising travelers to use alternative routes as protests continue.
