In the episode, Foot speaks with the professor of active life and public health at the University of Loughborough, Stacy Clemes, and Dr. Chris McCarthy, clinical member and associated professor at the Physiotherapy School of the Metropolitan University of Manchester.
It is known that sitting for eight or more hours a day causes great health risks, which is a reason why permanent desks are growing in popularity.

Stacy recommends a 50/50 division of sitting and standing, changing every 30 minutes, and suggests configuring an alarm or using an application on your computer to remind you to change your position.
It is at this point McCarthy comes your great suggestion: “What I consider is probably the most useful part of a screen equipment with people is to buy a kitchen timer … have it on the desk so that there is something that is physically to remind you to move.”
But why a timer? “If there is an application, I think I can ignore it, but if you have a colorful timer that goes out and bothers everyone, you probably use it more likely,” he explains.
