Pia wins the wink to return to the skies of the United Kingdom

Islamabad:

On Wednesday, the International Airlines of Pakistan announced Wednesday that it received the approval of the third country operator (TCO) for flight operations in the United Kingdom and is expected to return to the British skies next month, according to a statement.

In July, the United Kingdom eliminated Pakistan from its air security list, allowing Pakistani airlines to now run to operate flights to the United Kingdom, according to a statement from the high British commission in Islamabad.

The PIA full of the debt was forbidden to fly to the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States in June 2020, a month after one of its Airbus A-320 immersed itself in the Karachi model colony, killing almost 100 people. The prohibition of operating Europe rose in November last year.

Having received the TCO certification, the national carrier announced that it would now be allowed to operate direct flights and carry not only passengers but also load.

“In the first phase, flight operations will be resumed to Manchester, after which Birmingham and London will be included in Network B,” reads the statement, adding that the carrier was informed about the approval a previous day.

“On the same day, the British transport department also issued PIA Security and position ACC3 for five years,” Pia added.

“These certificates, issued by international aviation organizations, are a manifestation of total confidence in air operations and PIA safety.” Said.

In a position on X, the national carrier expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority for his help to resume operations.

The carrier was prohibited from flying to the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States in June 2020, a month after one of its Airbus A-320 submerged in the Karachi model colony, killing almost 100 people.

The prohibition followed the base of 262 pilots whose licenses, then Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, described “doubtful.”

The prohibition of operating in Europe rose in November 2024.
