The Ryder Cup has presented a good amount of moving moments, but at the end of the day, it is still an intense rivalry.
It seems that there are more punches during these three days of golf than in The entire golf season.
And sometimes, golfers get carried away with their emotions. These are some of the most heated moments in the history of the tournament.
Hats
It could be said that the most intense moment in the history of the Ryder Cup, with tensions lit after the game, occurred in the most recent tournament.

First, we have to rewind the early Saturday in 2023, when Patrick Cantlay did not wear a hat because, he said, he didn’t look good. However, speculation was not paid to use the hat or game without sponsor, and it was a protest signal. Ironically, US players are paid this year, while Europeans do not provide some motivation for the foreigner.
Back to golf. With that speculation floating around Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, Cantlay was mocked by European fans who stirred their hats throughout the round. Well, the Cantlay without a hat drained a 43 -foot putt Birdie in 18 to close at least half a point. His teammates responded by returning the waves of the hat, as well as Cantlay’s Caddy, Joe Lacava.
Lacava, however, may have taken it too far by shaking his hat right in front of Rory Mcilroy, who had the opportunity to tie the game. That caused a conversation between Mcilroy and Lacava before the putt, with a lacava telling Shane Lowry out of the green to “turn off the F —“.
All parties seemed to be civilians at the end of the game, but Mcilroy, still hot on the incident, had to actually be stopped by Shane Lowry while taking out his frustrations about Jim “Bones” McKay.
18 fire holes
For a guy who once called the Ryder Cup an “exhibition” for which he would probably not even overturned, Mcilroy is surely on this list.
But while it is a key part at the biggest moment that opens it in temperament in the history of the tournament, it also played an important factor in the 18 most intense holes.
With Europe, needing a return in Hazeltine in 2016, they sent Mcilroy first to go against Patrick Reed, who wanted all the smoke.

While Mcilroy was silent to the crowd, Reed would bow towards them, celebrating as if each short putt were a touchdown in the Super Bowl. The two even respected each other when Mcilroy drained a foot of 45 feet and shouted emphatically, and Reed responded by doing their birdie and moving their finger. The duo hit and took some palmaditas on the back.

Mcilroy admitted in a characteristic of the Ryder Cup of 2025 that both wasted a ton of energy in the nine strikers, but the game was still the maximum 18. When the winning putt of the Reed match fell, he compensated for that lack of energy and became absolutely crazy.

Premature celebration
The United States was in the midst of completing the best return in the history of the Ryder Cup in 1999 in Brookline.
Following 10-6 entering Sunday singles, no team had even invented a two-point deficit on the last day to win the Cup. Ben Crenshaw lifted his finger on Saturday night, saying he had a “good feeling” on Sunday.
And understandably so. The US team won each of the first seven individual games to suddenly lead, 13-10. Europe won two points, but Jim Furyk beat Sergio García to take an advantage of 14-12.
Needing a half point to win the Ryder Cup, Justin Leonard drained a 40 -foot putt Birdie in hole 17, causing absolute madness in green. The players, wives and apparently cameramen broke into the green, while José Maria Olazabal still had a putt to keep the match tied. The cameraman apparently stepped on the Olazabal line, affecting his putt. Olazabal was lost, assuring the United States its half -point.

A headline in the standard of the Night of London said: “How to win a cup but lose all dignity.” Olazabal called Ruckus Green “a ugly image to see”, and the ViceCapitan of Europe, Sam Torrance, said the United States team should have “embarrassed.”
Europe would avenge each of Ryder’s next three drinks, with the last two each by nine points.
Vigilant eyes
Seve Ballesteros and Paul Azinger had a dispute at the Ryder Cup in 1989, but the tensions continued two years later on Kiawah Island.
Ballesteros and José Maria Olazabal were paired against Azinger and Chip Beck. The Spaniards caught the Americans changing what type of ball they were using depending on the wind, which is against the rules. The Americans denied him at the beginning, but admitted it after it was revealed that they would not be penalized, since the Spaniards faced them too late.
The Americans faced themselves in the tenth hole, and became the main source of many calls from Europeans who claimed the slaughter of the US team. Uu. In future years.
