A district court and sessions in Islamabad accused Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati in a case related to controversial tweets that supposedly point to the sensitive institutions of the country, including the military.
The accusation was transmitted by the additional district and the judge of sessions Muhammad Afzal Majoka on Saturday, who dismissed the request for acquittal of the senator. Swati, during the process, declared himself innocent of the positions.
The court summoned the witnesses of the Prosecutor’s Office for the next hearing and postponed more procedures until October 14.

The case against Swati began in November 2022, when the wing of cyber crimes of the FIA arrested him for the tweets considered offensive towards the main leadership of the military. According to the FIA, the PTI legislator had launched a “very unpleasant campaign” on Twitter with an alleged intention to defame and malignant state institutions.
The FIR was registered by the Cyber Crime de la FIA Crime Reports Center in Islamabad about a complaint filed by the technical assistant Aneesur Rehman. It included sections of the Law on the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PECA) 2016 and the Pakistan Criminal Code, such as section 131 (Mutinio de Incrustation), 500 and 501 (defamation), 505 (public pranks) and 109 (incitement).
The FIA said that Tweets published by Swati were part of a malicious attempt to create districts institutions and discredited with “hidden motifs.”
In 2023, Swati was declared a criminal proclaimed after not appearing before the court, which subsequently issued non -financing arrest orders against him.
