Pakistan condemns the Israeli incursion in Gaza Aid Flotilla


Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Sumud Global flotilla, which describes action as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) said that the illegal arrest of international activists aboard the flotilla endangered the lives of innocent civilians.

The flotilla, which includes more than 40 civil ships and transported around 500 international activists, was on the way to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the interception was part of the “pattern of continuous aggression of Israel” and its illegal blockade of Gaza, which has caused an immense human suffering for more than two million Palestinians. He added that the deliberate obstruction of humanitarian relief was a serious violation of Israel’s obligations as an occupation power under the fourth Geneva Convention.

Reiterating its position, Pakistan asked for a high immediate, unconditional and permanent fire in all occupied Palestinian territories; Gaza block lifting; humanitarian access without obstacles; launch of all activists aboard the flotilla; and responsibility for the violations of Israel of International Law.

The statement reaffirmed the “unwavering support and solidarity” of Pakistan with the Palestinian people in their struggle for the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign and adjoining state of Palestine based on the edges prior to 1967, with al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly condemned what he called an “assault attack” for Israeli forces in the Samud Gaza flotilla, a convoy of 40 vessels that transport more than 450 humanitarian workers from 44 countries.

In a statement, the prime minister expressed concern about “illegally detained” for Israeli forces and requested his immediate release. “His only crime was to bring help for the unfortunate Palestinian people,” he said.

Shehbaz added that “this barbarism must end”, urging peace to have a chance and that humanitarian aid is allowed to achieve those in need.

The Israeli forces have arrested 13 ships that transport foreign activists and help for Gaza, but 30 ships continue to sail to the Palestinian enclave with the war, Fleet organizers said Thursday.

The flotilla is the highest opposition symbol of high profile to the blockade of Gaza de Israel.

The Minister of Digital Transformation of Spain, Oscar López, had urged the flotilla not to cross the declared exclusion zone of Israel, extending 150 nautical miles of Gaza.

“Our message to the flotilla has been clear: do not enter that area,” he told Spanish public television, he added that the naval escort of Spain would not become the area of ​​exclusion.

Israel blocked similar attempts in June and July.
