- Micron claims the 2.8TB/s bandwidth for HBM4, overcoming the Jedec baseline and rivals
- Next generation memory samples sent to customers, with HBM4E customization ahead
- Micron HBM revenues grow at an annualized execution rate of $ 8 billion as the demand for AI increases
Micron has announced that it has begun to send samples of its next -generation HBM4 memory, claiming the leading performance and efficiency in the industry.
Speaking during the recent earnings of the fourth quarter of the fourth quarter of the company, the Micron CEO, Sanjay Mehrotra, said the modules achieve more than 2.8TB/s bandwidth and PIN velocities above 11 Gbps.
This places them far ahead of the official Jedec HBM4 specification of 2TB/SY 8GBPS.
Leader in the industry
“Micron HBM4 12-High remains on the way to admit customer platform ramps, even when performance requirements for HBM4 bandwidth and pin speeds have increased,” Mehrotra told investors.
He added that the company’s approach offers “the leading performance in the industry, as well as the best energy efficiency of the class”, citing the Micron 1-Gamma dram, the dice of the internal CMOS base and packaging innovations as key differentiators.
Micron also confirmed the plans for HBM4E, which will extend the base design with options for the specific customization of the logic client.
“For HBM4E, Micron will offer standard products, as well as the option for customization of the base logic,” said Mehrotra.
“Personalization requires close collaboration with customers and we hope that HBM4E with the personalized base logic will die to offer higher gross margins than standard HBM4E.”
Developed in collaboration with TSMC, technology will allow the main clients such as NVIDIA and AMD to adapt to accelerators with optimized memory batteries for lower latency and better package routing.
This would mark the first time that HBM is delivered with a personalized base given, a change that could change the way the accelerators are designed and differentiated.
In January 2025, the firm announced plans to take a larger portion of the HBM market of $ 100 billion and is a rapid growth part of the micron business.
The company reported that high -width of bandwidth revenues reached almost $ 2 billion in its last quarter, an annualized rate of $ 8 billion.
With Samsung and SK Hynix also advancing the development of HBM4, Micron is betting on leadership, at least in terms of unprocessed bandwidth.
Mehrotra concluded the gain call by reiterating the company’s broader strategy: “Micron closed a record fiscal year with an exceptional performance of the fourth quarter, underlining our leadership in technology, products and operational execution,” he said.
