Peshawar:
The controversy on the withdrawal of the security of the central president of the National Party Awami (ANP), Aimal Wali Khan, has deepened, with contradictory claims of the provincial government and the party despite the directives reported by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa main minister to guarantee its protection.
According to ANP, all security personnel assigned to Aimal Wali Khan were withdrawn despite the explicit instructions of Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to maintain their safety. The party accused the Provincial Police of challenging the principal minister and acting by order of the Federal Ministry.
The ANP spokesman Ehsanullah, in a strongly written statement, said the movement was equivalent to “suspending the constitution in practice”, claiming that the so -called “hybrid regime” was undermining provincial autonomy.
He added that by ignoring the directives of the principal minister, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police had effectively annulled the previous orders issued for the protection of Aimal Wali, a measure that described as a “serious violation of the provincial authority.”
Aimal Wali Khan himself had previously announced on social networks that his security had been withdrawn, causing strong criticisms of the party against the provincial and federal authorities.
Meanwhile, the special assistant of the main information minister, lawyer Muhammad Ali Saif, dismissed the concerns of the ANP, ensuring that Aimal Wali’s security would be completely guaranteed in accordance with the directives of the main minister. “Despite political differences, we will not commit ourselves to his security,” he said, he even added with humor, “if necessary, I will guide him for him.”
The provincial government spokesman also clarified that no security retirement had occurred. “All reports that suggest otherwise have no basis and are misleading,” he said, and added that the Regional Police officer remained in contact with Aimal Wali Khan to finish the list of confidence personnel who will deploy for their protection.
