- Workers are not happy with the lack of empathy and transparency of leaders
- IA tools are giving them greater autonomy and more free time, HP’s study finds
- Younger workers also want more flexibility
The 2025 edition of the HP Labor Relations Index has highlighted the generalized distrust of workers in leadership, finding only 14% of the 1,300 United Kingdom employees surveyed trust their high -level leaders to make the right decisions (12 percentage points compared to last year).
The workers noticed a lack of empathy (86%) and transparent communication (86%), with two out of five (41%) feeling that their company prioritizes profits over people.
On the other hand, technologies such as AI are actually helping employees at work, plugging gaps that remain to lack leadership and giving them more control over how they do the work.
Workers do not receive enough support at work
The three quarters (76%) of the United Kingdom employees now use the work to help them through productivity, the creation of content and data analysis, but it is deeper than that. Two out of five of the workers who say they are happy at work, use the tools of AI provided by the company daily, demonstrating that the proper provision of the tool makes a significant difference in workers’ satisfaction.
“Companies that democratize access to AI, provide training and embed technology in daily workflows are already seeing higher levels of satisfaction and loyalty,” HP MD explained in northern Europe, Neil Sawyer.
Three out of four (76%) say that technology has improved their balance between work and life, which is proof that productivity tools are really releasing workers from repetitive and administrative tasks.
It is not only the technology that workers seek, but also greater flexibility. Four out of five workers of the Z generation would voluntarily sacrifice some payments in favor of more flexibility and autonomy.
Looking towards the future, HP urges employers to focus on three key areas: lead with empathy and transparency to promote open communication; Invest in tools and skills to equip workers with the resources they need; and enable hybrid work and autonomy to provide workers with greater flexibility.
“Companies that democratize access to AI, provide training and embed technology in daily workflows are already seeing higher levels of satisfaction and loyalty,” Sawyer concluded.
