A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If you are instead looking for the Thursday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Thursday, October 9 (Game #585).

NYT Strands Today (Game #586): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game #586 are…
- RAGOUT
- CHILI
- GUMBO
- STEW
- JAMBALAYA
- TAGIN
- GOULASH
- ESPANGRAM: ONEPOT
- My rating: Hard
- My score: Perfect
I’m really glad I finished today’s search without resorting to a clue, as it contained some tricky words, some of which I only knew from The Carpenters song. Jambalaya (in the swamp) – Crab cake notable for its absence.
My initial thought regarding the “I’m ladleful” pun was soup, but after watching RAGOUT I knew we were looking for something a little more substantial; Soup is not the kind of food you need if you are hungry.
It took me two tries to get CHILI, as I chose the L and I in the wrong order, but other than that small problem, I navigated this complicated game without any problems, which is something I always suffer from when eating a chili!
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Thursday, October 9, Game #585)
- CLOTHES
- CHARGER
- LAPTOP
- TOILETRIES
- HEADPHONES
- SPANGRAM: PACKAGE
