Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes had a warm Maid in Manhattan reunion in Variety10 Directors to Watch and Creative Impact Awards Brunch at Parker Palm Springs.
At the event, J.Lo was honored with Variety’s Legend and Groundbreakers, hosted by his former co-star Fiennes.
While presenting him with the award, Fiennes recalled: “Once upon a time, in another life and perhaps in a different era of movie stories, there was a Republican candidate for senator wandering around a hotel in Manhattan, and there was him in this very place too. another life as a maid in this hotel.”
“This Republican senatorial hopeful was impressed by her good looks, but he couldn’t really see her. This maid was masking something in her demure and attentive way. She was sweet and charming, but she was actually hiding something. “She hid a kind of superpower,” he said. Conclave the star recalled.
“Behind the mask of this maid there was truly a force, a force of creativity, a force of action, something so powerful that it simply could not be stopped…”
“In this life, in this story, since she was little she flies with determination, because I think she knows that she has something inside her that she must honor while flying high. “She honors and fulfills her extraordinary creative spirit and shares it, illuminating the lives of so many people, inspiring them and brightening their days,” Fiennes said.
“We really need to stop meeting in hotels like this,” López joked about their meeting in a hotel, which is how they meet in Maid in Manhattan.
In his speech, he reflected on how to go against the “detractors” to succeed in Hollywood against all odds.
“I set out to follow a burning passion against the advice of everyone around me. How do you do what I wanted to do when your life circumstances, your race, or even your gender create the idea that it’s virtually impossible to go from housing in the Bronx to starring in Hollywood movies? It’s just too absurd to understand.” Scammers said the actress.
“There is no direct path to success, and along the way we fall, we get up, we fall better, we get up stronger, we make our way, we break through and we become the architects of our own destinies,” said Jennifer Lopez.
