Jamie Lee Curtis recently reflected on a bold moment from her past when she removed her makeup and posed in her underwear for a magazine photo shoot more than two decades ago.
For the uninitiated, in 2002, the 66-year-old Oscar winner posed for the cover of Más magazine without makeup, wearing only a sports bra and underwear.
Now talking to People magazine, Curtis explained why she decided to do the photo shoot, saying, “I had fallen prey to unrealistic beauty standards” and decided to do the shoot without any retouching.
Expanding on this, she added: “I said, ‘I’ll do it if you take a photo of me without makeup, without clothes, without hairstyle, without hair, nothing.’ And then you dress me all up, put makeup on me and get glamorous, and tell how long it took, how much money it cost, and how many people it took to get me to look like that.”
He strange friday The star confessed that she wanted to show the “power of telling the truth” by doing this.
“I have been a vocal critic, and we will go to our graves with this, that there is a cosmeceutical industrial complex that tells women that they are not enough without this nonsense: the idea of facial augmentation, fillers, injections, lifting, all. of the brilliance that these women are doing,” Curtis mentioned.
The film producer went on to state that everyone is “free to do what they want” with their appearance and concluded by hoping that people can feel just as empowered without retouching.
