The body of Thomas Fielder, a German diplomat and second secretary of the German embassy, was found in his apartment within the diplomatic enclave of Islamabad, local authorities confirmed on Monday.
Thomas Fielder’s body was discovered by embassy staff, who became concerned after he was absent from work for two days, Express News reported.
They broke into his apartment and found him unconscious.
Islamabad police were immediately notified and transported the body to a local hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police officers stated that while the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, initial investigations indicate that Thomas Fielder had previously suffered a minor heart attack, which may have played a role.
A post-mortem report will determine the exact cause of death and police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The German Embassy has been informed and further details are awaited.
Fielder had been residing in the Diplomatic Enclave, a high-security area where many foreign diplomats live and work.
Late night yesterday, a mini-rocket attack targeted the I-9 police station in Islamabad, sources revealed. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm when the station’s duty officer reportedly heard an explosion.
The sound was initially dismissed as a tire burst and no immediate action was taken.
However, it was not until the morning that the damage became evident. Closer inspection of the station wall revealed impact marks, confirming that a mini-rocket-like object had struck the structure.
A bomb disposal team was sent to the scene to collect forensic evidence.
