- The OnePlus 15 has already been launched globally
- It has the same specifications as the Chinese version, including a 7,300 mAh battery.
- US sales have been postponed until the FCC certifies the device
Following its launch in China at the end of October, the OnePlus 15 has now been launched globally, meaning it is available for purchase in regions such as the UK and Europe.
Sales in the US have been postponed until the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certifies the device, and OnePlus confirmed in a statement that the phone has “already completed all required testing at FCC recognized laboratories and the certification application has been formally submitted.”
So, it seems likely that the OnePlus 15 will be available for purchase in the US following the end of the country’s government shutdown.
As for the phone itself, there’s not much to talk about, because its specs are exactly the same as the Chinese version, so if you followed that launch, you’ll already know what to expect. But it’s worth noting that this means you get a massive 7,300mAh battery, with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, regardless of where you buy the OnePlus 15.
There were some concerns that certain regions might have a lower capacity battery, as 7300 mAh is almost unheard of on US and UK phones and sometimes Chinese phones have lower capacity batteries in their global versions than in China. However, this is not the case with the OnePlus 15.
Look
High-end power and lots of water resistance.
So, that’s good news. As for the rest of the specs, the OnePlus 15 has a super-powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 6.78-inch 1272 x 2772 AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate (which maxes out at 120Hz outside of gaming), and you can get it with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM or 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM.
Cameras include a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle and a 50MP telephoto lens (which offers 3.5x optical zoom and 7x “optical quality” zoom), and there’s also a 32MP camera on the front.
The OnePlus 15 also has a great vapor chamber, IP68 and IP69K ratings (giving it more water resistance than most phones), and a different design to its predecessor, particularly when it comes to the camera block.
There’s no magnetic charging to speak of, although OnePlus confirmed to TechRadar that it opted to forgo built-in magnets to prioritize longer battery life, which seems like a sensible trade-off.
If you like the sound of the OnePlus 15, you can pick up the 12GB model with 256GB of storage for £849 (although this variant is only available in Infinite Black), or the 16GB model with 512GB of storage, in a choice of Infinite Black, Sand Storm or Ultra Violet, for £979. For reference, the same OnePlus 13 configurations cost £899 and £999, respectively.
In the US, both models will be priced at $899.99 and $999.99 respectively, which matches the price of the OnePlus 13. We’re still waiting for OnePlus to confirm pricing in Australia.
