Anna Sawai reveals who she would vote for after winning ‘Shogun’ at the Golden Globes

Japanese actress Anna Sawai won first place at the 2025 Golden Globes for her role in the series. shogun.

Sawai’s well-deserved victory marked the repetition of history, as Yoko Shimada had already won the award for the same role 44 years earlier.

Both actresses played the character of Lady Mariko, wife of the samurai Buntaro. He works as an interpreter between the English Protestant John Blackthorne and the Japanese Lord Yoshii Toranaga.

Shimada gave life to Lady Mariko in 1980 and died at the age of 69 in 2022.

Anna Sawai’s victory was far from the only one for shogunas they took home four awards in total.

The actor behind Lord Toranaga, Hiroyuki Sanada, took first place in the Best Actor in a Television Series category.

Additionally, Tadanobu Asano, who played the antagonist, won the Best Supporting Actor award.
