NYT Strands Today (Game #312): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game number 312 are…
- DUCK EYE
- blue fin
- SKIPJACK
- ALBACORE
- yellowfin
- SPANGRAM: TUNA FAMILY
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 2 tracks
It took me two clues before I realized that today’s Strands is about tuna, or “the chicken of the sea,” as one brand of canned tuna calls it, which isn’t accurate but is a little catchier than the generators mandatory sea ram. .
Because we think of tuna in cans or fillets rather than living creatures, it’s easy to forget their size: Atlantic Yellowfin tuna are enormous and can weigh as much as a horse. They are also fast, swimming at speeds of 42 mph.
My favorite fact about tuna is that they never stop moving, since their movement and breathing are connected and that is why they do not stop sleeping and instead use a technique in which they turn off half of their brain in order to continue moving. and staying alert to threats and then, after a while, turning off the opposite half of your brain. I’ll try it tomorrow when I do Strands.
How was today? Send me an email and let me know.
