Denmark’s royal twins celebrate their first birthday after Queen Margaret’s abdication

Denmark’s royal twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, celebrated their 14th birthday, their first after their father became King Frederick following Queen Margaret’s shock abdication last year.

The royal family celebrated the royal twins’ 14th birthday by sharing photos on Instagram.

The stunning photographs were taken on New Year’s Eve.

The post reads: “Their Royal Highnesses Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine have their birthdays and today they turn 14 years old.

“On the occasion of the birthday, new photographs of the Prince and Princess are published. The birthday photos were taken on New Year’s Eve, shortly after the birthday boy’s father gave his first New Year’s speech.”

Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine moved up the line of succession after their grandmother, Queen Margaret, abdicated the throne on January 14 last year.

Queen Margaret’s eldest son became King Frederick X, while his wife became Queen Mary.

According to the People magazine, Queen Margaret’s abdication came as a surprise as she had previously said she would rule for her entire life and before her, the last Danish monarch’s abdication was in 1146.
