Zara Larsson is still thinking about a historic moment in her career and is being refreshingly honest about what comes next.
After their studio album midnight sun garnered critical acclaim upon its release in September, its viral title track garnered a Grammy nomination for best dance pop recording at the 2026 ceremony.
It marks Larsson’s first recognition from the Recording Academy, a moment she describes as surreal and deeply validating.
As excitement around the nomination builds, the Swedish pop star is already imagining what it would feel like to be in the room on music’s biggest night.
But when it comes to getting a Grammy acceptance speech ready, Larsson says he’s taking a very human approach.
“I haven’t really prepared a speech, word for word,” he shared during a recent conversation with PEOPLE. Instead, you’ve been imagining the emotional weight of the moment, not the exact words you would say.
Larsson admitted that she had never attended the Grammys before, adding to the mystery. He doesn’t know where he will sit, what the stage will be like, or even what he will wear.
What he does know is that if he had to prepare something, gratitude would come first.
He wants to recognize the many people who helped achieve midnight sun to life, calling it “like an entire town, basically, making the dream come true.”
Still, Larsson doesn’t put pressure on herself to be polished or perfect.
“But I think I’ll take it in. Words don’t matter much,” he said frankly.
Then, in true Zara style, she joked: “What if I walk up and laugh for two minutes? People say, ‘Should we call someone?’ Like, fuck.”
Whether victory comes this year or later, Larsson is sure of one thing.
“I think it’s going to be crazy if or when it happens. One day it will happen, period.”
For now, the nomination itself is a powerful moment, indicating that midnight sun has really connected, and that Zara Larsson’s dream of winning a Grammy is closer than ever.
