- It will be a triple A action game for PS5 and PC, developed in China
- This god of war and The devil may cry-The action-inspired game will be released in 2028.
Chinese developer Genigods Lab has announced Genigodos: Nezha, an action game created with Unreal Engine 5 that will come to PlayStation 5 and PC.
The game isn’t launching anytime soon, with a release window planned for 2028, but I recently got an early look at the project in a briefing with Young Lui (founder and technical expert) of Genigods Lab and Erdi Yao (co-founder and creative director).
With Genigodos: Nezha, The developer is looking to put its own spin on the story of Nezha, a deity from Chinese mythology. The game will feature a mix of ground and air combat, and the player will be able to seamlessly switch between the two.
As Black Myth Wukong, The game appears to include a lot of one-on-one boss battles, and from the brief snippet of gameplay I was shown, it certainly looks slick and fluid. However, the team assured me that Nezha It will also feature large sandbox levels, as well as puzzles, encounters with groups of enemies, and exploration opportunities that can lead to finding new weapons, outfits, and the like.
Look
According to the team, Genigodos: Nezha draws inspiration from a number of contemporary hits, including the one mentioned above. Black Myth Wukong, as well as God of War, Devil May Cry, Nioh, and star sword.
Many of them are quite challenging games, so during the Q&A session of the presentation, I asked the team what their approach to difficulty will be. I received an interesting response, as Genigods Lab draws inspiration from a rather unlikely place.
“We want new users to be able to master [our combat]”said technical expert Young Lui, “we have created a control method like ‘Modern’ in street fighter 6. By holding R1 and then pressing any key, you can easily make cool combos. This should help new users get started quickly. Then, for the very good players, we have a ‘Classic’ version, where you can do more combos and combine more moves.”
Leaning even further into that fighting game feel, Genigods Lab explained that it is developing dynamic AI for Nezha boss fights. The goal here, on paper, is to help bosses feel a little more like player-controlled entities. They will potentially be able to react, predict, and attempt to counteract the player’s actions, so the player must do so in return.
It all sounds pretty interesting, but it’s also worth noting that Genigodos: Nezha It’s in the early stages of development and, as mentioned, is unlikely to release before 2028. That said, the game is still targeting PS5 as its primary platform and is planned to feature PS5 Pro improvements, as well as full DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support.

The best game consoles.
