King Charles and Queen Camilla brought plenty of warmth to the people of Essex on February 5 during a day packed with meet and greets; a little drizzle is no match for your community spirit.
The visit began at the much-loved Sun Inn, often regarded as one of the best pubs in Britain, where Their Majesties spent time with local business owners and guests from across the area.
Queen Camilla and the monarch arrived shortly before midday and were greeted by the pub’s team, including owner Piers Baker, his wife Victoria and senior staff at the Baker Collective.
They even tried the inn’s signature gin, a local blend made with Mersea’s famous oysters in collaboration with Fishes in Aldeburgh.
Inside, conversations flowed as easily as hospitality, with discussions ranging from local business to environmental responsibility.
Returning outdoors, the royal walk along the High Street took place amidst music, dancing and joyous crowds.
Students and residents of the school lined the route, creating a festival atmosphere that made the gray skies a minor detail.
The day concluded at Essex Rose Teahouse, where staff hosted a relaxed tea party.
