Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Ministry of External Affairs to take all necessary measures to ensure safe repatriation of Pakistanis stranded in Iran.
The prime minister on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting on the overall security situation in the country following the US-Israeli attack on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory strikes.
Referring to Pakistanis currently visiting Iran, the prime minister ordered that all citizens should safely return to Pakistan via Azerbaijan. In this regard, he ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately contact the government of Azerbaijan.
Shehbaz also directed all relevant federal and provincial institutions to immediately ensure comprehensive and effective security measures given the prevailing situation. He stressed that all institutions must fulfill their responsibilities with mutual coordination and complete harmony.
The Prime Minister was informed that all security agencies are on alert regarding the current situation and that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard national security.
Shehbaz asserted that the people of Pakistan and the armed forces are fully prepared at all times to safeguard the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
“Under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan Armed Forces are performing their duties to the best of their ability with national spirit and dedication,” he said.
He said the entire nation salutes the sacrifices made by the security forces in the war against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Kashmir Affairs Minister Amir Muqam, chief secretaries of the four provinces, inspector general of police and other relevant senior officials.
