The Sindh government has announced plans to establish a modern media university in Karachi.
According to Sindh government spokesperson Mustafa Abdullah Baloch, the university will promote history and cultural heritage. The initiative will be carried out on the directives of Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Abdullah Baloch claimed that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has instructed the Sindh Chief Minister to start the project, which aims to highlight the historical and cultural legacy of Sindh on a global scale.
The spokesperson further mentioned that the Sindh government plans to develop the institution as per international standards for promotion of media education, research and innovation.
Highlighting past achievements, he noted that several projects have been successfully completed under public-private partnerships.
He added that the media university will be established under a public-private partnership model and will serve as a new center for progress, creativity and cultural pride of the people of Sindh.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh has directed the Education Department to develop the province’s first Transgender Education Policy.
The government spokesperson said that in the past the provincial government had approved a job quota for transgender people under the Sindh Civil Servants Amendment Act, which allows the transgender community to get jobs in the government, both by merit as well as through the reserved quota.
Earlier, an agreement was reached to establish a coordination mechanism to facilitate students from Sindh to pursue medical and nursing studies in Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting between Minister of Education Sardar Ali Shah and Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan Dogdorkul Kendirbaeva also included discussions on increasing the number of students from Sindh studying in Kyrgyzstan.
