The Sindh government is set to launch a crackdown on fancy number plates from April 1 as the traffic police will take action against fake, fancy and unregistered vehicles.
As per the rules set by the Sindh government, fancy, fake and unregistered vehicles would face action and the traffic police would focus on vehicles without number plates.
Strict measures were taken against those driving cars or motorcycles without license plates. The traffic police said motorcyclists must have number plates installed on both the front and rear.
Citizens who have not yet received official number plates from the Excise Department were advised to use number plates with the government’s official design.
Personnel from the district police, the traffic police, the Citizen Police Liaison Committee, the Excise Department and the Driving License Section would participate in the crackdown.
It was also decided that unlicensed drivers would be issued a learner’s license on the spot.
Owners of vehicles and motorcycles without registration will have 24 hours to obtain new registration plates, after which the confiscated vehicles and motorcycles will be released without fine.
