- Pebblebee has launched its new Halo security tracker
- In addition to tracking, it also functions as a siren and flashing strobe to attract attention.
- When you buy one, you get a free 12-month subscription to Alert Live
Personal security device company Pebblebee has launched what it describes as “the most important thing we’ve ever created”: the new Halo tracker.
Starting today (April 7), the Halo Security Tracker is available for purchase on Pebblebee’s online store and at select retailers, ushering in a new era of devices for the brand. Halo is priced at $59.99/£55.28/AU$87.88, which is more expensive than Apple’s flagship AirTag, but has more features.
Firstly, Halo builds on that “what if something goes wrong” feeling you get when you’re alone in a risky situation, whether walking home late at night or traveling through an unknown destination that can be recorded in Apple’s Find My app or Google’s Find Hub, meaning it’s suitable for iOS and Android users.

In addition to this, Halo does not require you to open an app or enter a passcode. Instead, it’s small enough to clip to a keychain at 2.7 inches and 1 ounce in weight, meaning it’s within reach when you need to activate it; This is where its features shine.
At its core, the Halo is a simple device with three distinct functions. When activated using its breakaway mechanism, Halo will emit a 130 dB siren to attract the attention of passersby in the area, emit a flashing strobe light (which also doubles as a 150 lumen flashlight), and share its real-time location with up to five trusted contacts called your Safety Circle.
There is also an additional level of discretion. If you need to alert your security circle but don’t want to draw attention to those around you, quickly pressing the button on the side of the device sends a silent alert when activated, without activating the siren and strobe lights show. As for battery life, it can last up to a year before needing the next charge.
“We built Halo with specific people in mind: the college student who walks around campus at 11 p.m., the morning jogger who leaves before the neighborhood wakes up, the traveler who arrives in an unfamiliar city, the parent who wants their teenager to have something more capable,” the company reveals. “But the more we tried it, the clearer it became: This is for anyone who has ever had the thought of ‘something is up.’”
Each Halo security device comes with a free 12-month subscription to Pebblebee’s Alert Live plan, which is required for live location sharing and the option to add more than five contacts to your Security Circle. While it’s not a huge difference from Halo’s subscription-free feature offering, the additional benefits certainly add an extra layer of peace of mind.
