King Charles, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024, has reportedly been progressing well in his health.
In a message shared in December 2025, on the occasion of World Cancer Day, the monarch had shared the “good news” that his treatment will be “reduced” in 2026, which he described as a “personal blessing.”
However, there are rumors that this has been a deliberate move to hide any negative updates on the King’s health, as the true story is different than it seems, according to royal experts.
Royal correspondent Robert Jobson highlighted that the Palace “put pressure” on journalists to “put a positive spin on the King’s health bulletins” when the reality is rather “sobering.”
He said during The Royalist podcast that Palace aides had focused solely on publishing positive news.
“I think it was overblown in December. I think the Palace was exaggerating the ‘good news’.”
The press spokespeople were saying, “Oh, this is good news.” They were trying to tell reporters at the time, “Don’t read it any other way. This is good news.”
Meanwhile, royal editor Tom Sykes noted that since sharing the story that Charles is “living with cancer,” the King’s powerful press office has removed him from the international media pool.
“In fact, the King’s communications secretary removed me from the international media pool after I noted that the King’s cancer was incurable, a fact the Palace has since acknowledged. My expulsion was used as an example to intimidate other journalists into toeing the Palace line,” Tom said.
He noted that the press has since been suppressing health updates in accordance with the “privacy regulations” of the King’s “powerful” press office.
