- Silo Season 3 will be much less dark than season 2
- In the meantime, “brighten up” your TV
- Season 3 will include more locations and even sunshine.
If, like us, you have just enjoyed the second season of Siloone of the best programs on Apple TV Plus, you will know very well its big problem: darkness.
I don’t mean darkness in the sense of desolation or horror, although Silo Season 2 served up some of that. I’m talking about the literal darkness, the darkness that made watching the second season seem for long periods as if Apple had forgotten to pay the lighting crew and decided to go ahead and film entire episodes with nothing more than a candle and the app of the torch on an old iPhone.
The good news? The darkness will disappear for season 3, and we assume that future seasons have been confirmed to arrive. Or at least, some of the locations won’t be in the depths of darkness.
Bringing Shiloh to the light
The news comes through TV Line, who spoke with Silo Showrunner Graham Yost and presumably said, “Hey Graham, how about we make a season we can watch this time, huh?” Because Yost has shared the good news that the lighting will be much brighter in the third season of Silo.
That’s not to say I regret making a show so dark that my brother ended up upgrading to one of the best TVs to watch it on. According to Yost, “that’s how it works” when you’re doing a season set largely underground in places that are written as if they have limited or no power. “When we showed the first episode on a big screen in London, it looked fantastic, because movie screens are very bright. So I encourage everyone to turn up the brightness. [on your TV]and you will see the difference.”
So what will change for season 3? In a word, locations. Next season will also go into much more detail about the origins of the silos and the events that made them necessary. “We will be outdoors, we will be in the world and there will be sunshine.” Sunshine! But don’t expect to lower the brightness too often, because Yost also confirms that (very mild spoiler ahead) we’ll also be returning to Silo 17.
